Expensive taxis

I took a taxi from Yio Chu Kang to Bugis in the morning and from Bugis to Changi Airport in the evening. Each trip cost me about $15, inclusive of the peak hour surcharge. A similar trip by train would have cost about $1.50. It is expensive to take a taxi, as it cost 10 times of the train.

  1. It would have been cheaper if you could get others to share with you -- taxi-pool.

Taxis are an alternative to owning a car, not a replacement for (mass) public transport.

When taxis were cheap, you couldn't get hold of one cos everyone's using them as an alternative to public transport.

    You can't win.

  2. Catching a taxi in Singapore has become more expensive in 2008. I believed the new surcharges have made it costly to travel in a cab. Prior to the new surcharges and fare structures, I usually pay between $5.20 to $5.60 going from Sixth Ave to Takashimaya. Nowadays it will cost me roughly $8.00+ for the same trip.
