Less crowded trains

I took the MRT train from Yio Chu Kang station at 9 am. To my surprise, the train was only half full.

I wonder if this is due to more train being put into service, or less passengers due to the economic recession?

    Chua Chu Kang is 3rd station from Jurong East. Down the road, there will be more people get into the train. If MRT reached Chua Chu Kang is fully loaded, further station passengers will not have chance to get into the train.

    I guess it is due to people clearing leave during the year end, or because some people are retrenched.

    To see a packed MRT:

    On a weekday, 7.45am to 8.15am, be at bukit batok station platform, for trains heading to jurong east station.

    no joke.
